The Struggles of Motivation

Have you ever tried to start a project and never finish it? if so, you’re not alone. I get spurts of motivation where I will put my all into something for a few hours and then never return to it ever again. I’ve always heard how you're supposed to pace things out and plan them, but I always jump into it when I feel like it. It's like common consensus tells us to wade into the pool through the shallow end, but my varying motivation causes me to jump straight into the deep end.

I’ve tried starting different creative projects like writing and a youtube channel, but nothing has really had much of a commitment. Many different sources will tell you that consistency is key and that if you stay at something long enough it will eventually work out. That is true, but finding the motivation for that consistency and is another story.

With youtube, I have found that if you try and try again you will eventually start seeing progress but it is really slow, and don't ever expect it to work. Many people on the internet will tell you that you need to be consistent but it's more about the quality you put out than the consistency and quantity.

But motivation is still our biggest problem. Well, try to work with spotty motivation and keep coming back. Whether it's been 2 days or 2 years since you last picked up your project, you should pick it back up. No matter what happens, coming back and continuing to try and try again will give you results.

It’s okay if you feel down and out of it because you have abandoned so many projects and dreams, but you will feel triumph after achieving it even when you doubted yourself and even left your dream behind.

So even if you don't feel like you needed this today, you can still come back to this at a later point when you are feeling lost and without motivation, and remember that you can do it, even if you don't think so at the moment.
